One of my favorite images from the session was created beneath the Historic Downtown Yuma archway, where the couple shared a romantic dip in the middle of the street as the city quietly surrounded them. It perfectly captures the feeling of being completely alone together, even in the heart of downtown.
Golden Hour to Blue Hour: Creating Two Completely Different Looks
One of the reasons I love scheduling engagement sessions around sunset is that couples get two unique galleries in a single evening.
We began during golden hour, when the soft Arizona sunlight wrapped the couple in warm, natural tones. The architecture of the Gowan Building glowed beautifully, giving every portrait a timeless, editorial feel.
As the evening transitioned into blue hour, the atmosphere completely changed.
Instead of putting the cameras away once the sun disappeared, we embraced the cooler evening light and incorporated off-camera flash to create a dramatic final portrait beneath the string lights of Downtown Yuma.
